After the UB Referral Code has been used
Don’t think for a moment that your use of the UB referral code will end all of the considerations that come with using the code. In fact, it is probably more accurate to say that using the UB referral code signals the end of the beginning rather than the beginning of the end.
The main reason for this has to do with the first thing that you need to think about in the aftermath of using the UB referral code and that is the first time deposit bonus that you will be getting. Part of the reason that you want to use the code is to make sure that you get access to the best first time deposit bonus that UB has to offer. At the end of 2009 that bonus was 111% up to $1100, but it is quite possible that it might be something different at some point down the road.
Once you have successfully used the UB referral code and that part of your player development is behind you, it is time to focus on the best time for you to make that deposit in order to claim the corresponding bonus.
Ideally, you want two things to happen when you make the deposit. The first is that you max out the bonus at $1100 and the second is that you time the deposit so that you have enough time in the 30 days following the deposit to clear the bonus amount that you get.
In the case of most online poker sites, the incremental release rate would mean that you should sacrifice the latter for the former. In the case of UB however where there is no incremental release and the bonus period of release is much smaller at 30 days, you should focus on getting the largest bonus amount that you can fully clear. In order to clear $1100 you’ll have to play a lot of poker in 30 days. If you don’t think you can do it, you should shoot for a smaller online poker bonus amount.
There is no shame in accepting a smaller bonus, either for bankroll or time commitment reasons. A good online poker player knows when to accept a higher percentage play with a smaller payoff and when to try to risk a little in order to gain a lot more. The UB bonus is large, but you can just as easily go for a smaller version that you are sure you can clear.
